Check out the new FANS All-Time Mileage History page. Here you can review ALL 26 years of participant race mileage for each year and total miles accumulated by participant for the many who have run multiple years.
Note: Due to accumulating race miles by participant dating back to 1990, this database is too large to specify yearly totals. In order to view yearly totals, simply download the excel spreadsheet and open on your computer.
On January 1, 2016 long time FANS 12-Hour Race participant, Volunteer Race Doctor, and dear friend, Dave Eitrheim, 58, a family physician in Menomonie, Wisconsin, passed away almost two and a half years after being diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (cancer) of the tongue. We will miss Dave's friendship, running passion, and support to give back to the sport he truly loved. In his lifetime, Dave ran more than 40,000 miles, 91 marathons (with a personal best of 2:51), and 36 ultramarathons, including 14 100-milers.
Throughout the years, Dave would run FANS 12-Hour Race, then head over to the Med Tent and be our Volunteer Race Doctor assisting the 24-Hour participants through the night to the race's finish the next morning.
During the 2015 FANS race, Dave, WON our 6-hour race division. While the FANS race will go on, we will dearly miss our friend and be forever grateful for his support, passion, and warm heart.
Recently Dave was featured in Runner's World about his amazing optimism living with cancer. (click below to read the article in Runner's World)
